25 years since its establishment and with over 250 feature films realized during this period, Castel Film has the pleasure to announce a first in film history!
The television series “Comrade Detective”, produced by the American company A24 (Channing Tatum) for the Amazon Prime platform will have its world premiere on the 4th of August. For the beginning, the series will only be available in USA, Great Britain, Australia and New Zeeland.
This series is unique for Romania since, beside the fact that the story is located in Romania in the 80s, it has an exclusively Romanian cast and the language is Romanian! The famous American actors Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt dub Florin Piersic Jr and respectively Corneliu Ulici. The two Romanian actors together with Olivia Nita have memorable roles in this series and they will participate these days in the launch of the series in USA alongside the Romanian producers Vlad Paunescu (Castel Film) and Cristi Bostanescu (Castel Film).

The principal photography took place during the period between November – December 2016 in the Castel Film studios in Izvorani as well as in other locations in Bucharest.
Synopsis:
In the 80s, the Romanian government created the most popular and long-lasting series, “Comrade Detective”, a policier which entertained the citizens but also promoted the communist and nationalist values. The first season of the production present detectives Gregor Anghel and Iosif Baciu investigating the death of their colleague Nikita Ionesco and, at the same time, disclosing a subversive plot for the destruction of the country, powered by its greatest enemy: capitalism.
