Netflix Confirms “A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby” Is Coming Next Holiday Season

“A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby” Is Coming to Netflix!

Netflix just announced that the feel-good follow-up to A Christmas Prince and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding is arriving in 2019. It will fittingly be titled: A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby.

The movie was filmed in Romania at Castel Film Studios and at the same castle where parts of the previous two films were shot. Rumors of a third flick initially swirled in Romanian publications when fans noticed that Peles Castle was decorated for Christmas in the middle of March.

“A Christmas Prince” became a trilogy Monday, with Netflix setting a third film in the franchise for this coming holiday season.

But the most important piece of that news was that the followup to the sequel a “The Royal Wedding” will include a tiny new addition to the cast — and Amber (Rose Iver) and Richard’s (Ben Lamb) family.

The streamer made the royal announcement via its “See What’s Next” Twitter account early Monday, sharing a sonogram picture of an unborn infant wearing a crown with the text: “Baby Makes 3. ‘A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby.’ This holiday season.”

Stars McIver, Lamb, and Alice Krige will return for “A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby.”

Here’s the official description for the film: “It’s Christmastime in Aldovia–and a royal baby is on the way! Amber and Richard host royals from a faraway kingdom to renew an ancient truce, but when the priceless 600-year-old-treaty disappears, peace is put in jeopardy and an ancient curse threatens their family!”

“A Christmas Prince,” the TV movie that started it all, dropped on Netflix in late 2017. The film follows Amber, an American blogger tasked with interviewing Richard, the soon-to-be king of Aldovia. (Spoiler alert: They fall in love.)

The holiday rom-com was so popular and gained such a strong following on social media that in May of 2018, the streamer greenlit a sequel, “The Royal Wedding.” That film launched on Netflix last November and chronicled the final days of Amber and Richard’s engagement and their subsequent wedding.

John Schultz will direct “A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby” from a screenplay written by Nate Atkins based on a story by Atkins and Schultz and characters created by Karen Schaler. Brad Krevoy, Amanda Phillips Atkins, Tag Mendillo, Eric Jarboe, James Townsend executive produce, with Amy Krell serving as producer. The film hails from Motion Picture Corporation of America.
